Sourbombe Artisanal Bakery opens first cafe at Jewel Changi Airport with exclusive sourdough donuts & soft serve

Sourbombe Artisanal Bakery has been rather infamous for its generously filled sourdough donuts. After opening their first brick-and-mortar store at Park Mall, their opening at Jewel Changi Airport is ready to take off in hopes of serving at international borders!

The differentiating factor between both is that the latter has a cafe concept, which not only features a lush seating space but offers a larger spectrum of things available on its menu from soft-serve ice cream to drinks. The bakery has grown to great heights since its debut as an online business and now, the boutique cafe serves to play an introspective and explorative role in being the pioneer bakery that specialises in artisanal sourdough bombolinis.

Spearheaded by the Director of Culinary Operations Genevieve Lee, runner-up of MasterChef Singapore 2018, she and her other partners have combined to build their brand into success. Now, their fluffy donuts and pastries have made their way to Jewel Airport for you to enjoy before or after a long flight. (By the way, Gen is also one of our co-hosts on Food Finders!)

The layout of the new space has its coffee counter and pastry spreads gorgeously installed in the middle of their dine-in space. The bar counter resembles Jewel’s signature rain vortex, adding a touch of elegance to their whole space.

Over here, they have Lavender Lime Soft Serve (S$8.50) atop of their specialties— OG Sourdough Bombolinis or the Quarter Crispy Brown Butter Waffle. The former option is going for an additional S$3, while the latter goes for an additional S$4. For flavours, they only include 2 seasonal flavours as of now, the other being hay and honey.

Another Jewel outlet exclusive would be their Crème Brûlée Bombe (S$4.80). Featuring a crystalised coating of candied caramel, the “bomb” bursts with deliciously whipped vanilla bean custard that overflows once broken into.

Alternatively, if you’re not really feeling the sweet variety, opt for their savoury ones. Equally as well thought out and executed with umami goodness, they have Tahani Short Ribs (S$8) with short ribs that is seared and seasoned to perfection, and paired with tahani yogurt and pistachio gremolata crisps. Other options include the Avo and Lox, and Crab and Caviar — both flavours inspired by international flavours and combinations, attracting the international palate.

Their wide selection of bakes now available at Jewel Changi Airport shines high and mighty to the local and international crowd, as they showcase the talent and innovation that exists in our Singaporean culinary scene.
