Sony International Signs Deal With Eduardo Cisneros, Jason Shuman

Sony Pictures International Productions has signed a multi-picture development deal with filmmakers Eduardo Cisneros and Jason Shuman as part of its local-language productions operation.

Under the deal, Cisneros and Shuman will write and produce three new feature films with SPIP. Cisneros was an associate producer on “Instructions Not Included.”

“It is an ongoing priority for Sony Pictures International Productions to serve our Spanish-speaking audiences in Latin America and here in the United States,” said Laine Kline, Executive VP Business Affairs and Operations. “Eduardo and Jason have an exceptional track record for capturing these important communities and beyond.”

Cisneros and Shuman said, “Sony Pictures International Productions has an exciting and inspired vision of the international space, and we look forward to making great movies with them and expanding the Spanish-language markets worldwide.”

Cisneros is the co-creator of the series “Familia P. Luche” and “XHDRBZ” and one of the founding members of 3Pas Studios, where he’s been working with Eugenio Derbez, developing a remake of the 2011 Argentine movie “Un Cuento Chino.” As part of an overall deal with Universal TV, Cisneros teamed with Aseem Batra and developed a single-camera comedy “Don’t Judge Me” for ABC.

Cisneros partnered in 2014 with Shuman to become the writing/producing team of Cisneros & Shuman, where they’ve written the Fox feature comedy “Upgrade” and the 20th Television/FBC pilot “Star-Crossed.” Shuman has over 20 producing credits, including “Role Models,” “Lone Survivor” and the upcoming “Rebel In The Rye.”

Cisneros is represented by WME, Valor Entertainment Group and Ziffren Brittenham. Shuman is represented by CAA and McKuin Frankel Whitehead.
