Solo "Silver Surfer" movie is in the works again

1 Mar – Twentieth Century Fox's "Silver Surfer" movie is moving forward with a confirmed writer to pen the script.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Brian K. Vaughan, who is most notable for his comic book works that include "Ex Machina", "Runaways", "Y: The Last Man" and most recently "Paper Girls", will board the project, making it his writing debut for a movie.
"Silver Surfer" is said to be part of the two "secret" Marvel projects at Fox, the other being a solo "Doctor Doom" movie with Noah Hawley attached to direct and write.
Other projects in development include the long-delayed "Gambit" solo movie featuring Channing Tatum as the titular character, a solo "Kitty Pryde" movie with Tim Miller attached to direct, a "Multiple Man" solo movie starring James Franco, an "X-Force" spin-off directed by Drew Goddard, and an "X-23" spin-off.
Plans for a standalone movie starring the metallic superhero were first revealed by Stan Lee in 2013, where he mentioned that Marvel Studios is frantically looking for a character to be given the standalone spotlight.
The character of Silver Surfer was first introduced in "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" in 2007, which received mostly negative criticism and led to a "Fantastic Four" reboot, which also did not do so well both critically and financially.
