Here’s the Skinny on ‘Minx’ Season 3
Who's ready for some saucy Minx secrets? Or, maybe... saucy Minx speculation. Season 2 is just getting started, but what do we know about Minx Season 3? The feminist comedy about a fictional erotic magazine for women in the '70s, now on Starz, deserves the world IMHO.
Minx was one of my favorite shows in 2022, and I feel like it was kind of underrated, so I'm so happy to see it back. I started watching because I wanted to see Jake Johnson in some sick '70s fashion, and I think a lot of other New Girls fans felt the same. Here's what we know about a potential season 3.
Has Minx been renewed for season 3?
Not yet, but I have hope!. Starz saved the show when it was dropped by HBO Max after season 1. (Technically, it got canceled after Max renewed it for season 2 and they were already filming, which is wild.) If they turn around and do the same thing... I would be both mad and disappointed. It would be shady! Plus, I'm so sick of shows not getting a chance.
However, due to circumstances I'll get into below (hint: it has to do with picket lines) it might be a while before we hear either way.
Who would return for Minx season 3?
This is a comedy and not one of those shows where characters are likely to get killed off. (I really hope I didn't just jinx Minx.) So I feel like it's a pretty safe bet that the entire cast would return. I don't see Jake Johnson, Ophelia Lovibond, Idara Victor, Jessica Lowe, Oscar Montoya, and Lennon Parham going anywhere. Season 2 has already added some fun new characters already, like Elizabeth Perkins as Constance. Maybe she would return. Maybe there will be more new and exciting characters in season 3, if and when it happens. We'll see!
What will happen in Minx season 3?
The series is not an adaptation, so the only people who can answer that question are the amazing writers. Minx comes from the hot brains of creator Ellen Rapoport and her writing staff. One of the things I liked so much about the first season is the way it surprised me with storylines and relationships. I genuinely didn't see some of those juicy developments coming. I was rooting for Doug and Tina to kiss so hard and even that shook me when it finally happened. So I trust these writers y'all. I'm not gonna speculate on what will happen next with Joyce's magazine and the friends she's met along the way. I'm leaving that to the professionals.
When would Minx return for season 3?
With the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes still ongoing, it's difficult to say when any shows will be able to get to work on new seasons. We're in a Hollywood holding pattern right now. Hopefully, the writers and actors get what they're asking for from the AMPTP ASAP! They deserve it. The Minx ensemble is filled with working actors who deserve to make a living. And you know artificial intelligence couldn't write a show this nuanced, insightful, and hilarious. Fingers crossed everything works out so the show gets renewed and back on Starz by the end of 2024!
