Siu Yam Yam says she is healthy and COVID-19 free

19 Aug – Veteran actress Siu Yam Yam (Susan Shaw) said that she is taking good care of her health, after she sparked concern over her previous charity work.

As reported on Mingpao, the actress who earlier worked with the Hong Kong Society for the Blind in donating 10,000 face masks to nursing homes for the blind prior to news that one of the caregivers was diagnosed with the coronavirus, revealed that she did not personally hand over the items.

"I only helped putting them in the van. The distribution was done by the volunteers," she said.

Susan stated that she remembered the previous experience Hong Kong had with SARS, and how she and Andy Hui represented the Performing Artistes Guild in distributing masks to families in remote areas of the New Territories.

"It was raining heavily that the car broke down after we finished distributing it. We weren't even wearing face masks for fear of "hurting" the families' feelings. Looking back, it was really a stupid thing to do. This time around, I only donated the masks, and not distributed them," she said.
