Sisley Choi assures she's fine after news about bipolar disorder
29 Apr – Sisley Choi has assured fans that she is fine after an article about her having bipolar disorder went viral recently.
As reported on Mingpao, the TVB actress opened up about a time in her life where she was at her worst due to the many gossip and negative news circulating about her.
Sisley stated that while she smiled and was welcoming to people on the surface, she was actually struggling from feeling depressed and emotional breakdown.
It was not until three years ago, upon meeting Dicky Cheung on the set of "The Learning Curve of a Warlord" that the actress went to see an expert, after the latter noticed that something was not right about her. As a result, she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
The actress explained that rather than rely on drugs, she received help and support from her group of friends like Winki Lai and Jeannie Chan.
Following the release of the article, Sisley explained that the publication made her mental health struggle much larger than it was when she had indeed recovered from it.
"I am okay. Let's put the focus back on the content of the article. It is about my experience in the past few years and my mental health journey after I entered showbiz. It's not just about bipolar disorder. That was just one small episode in my life," she said.
The actress added that every actor will go through different chapters of life, and that they often use it for inspiration.
