"Singer 2024" congratulates Na Ying amid controversy

30 Jul - Despite the criticisms it received after announcing Na Ying as the ultimate winner, Hunan TV's "Singer 2024" went on to congratulate the singer for her victory.

On 29 July, the show's Weibo account posted a video of the veteran singer, and posted, "From the initial nervousness to the confusion after a loss, and then to the idea of withdrawing from competition, Na Ying's journey in "Singer 2024" was not smooth. But whether it was the pain of having shingles or the excessive pressure, it was not as good as the attitude of wanting to complete a great performance."

It added that through the experience, Na Ying gradually regained her confidence and proved to everybody that she is "worth it".

In a previous post, the show stated that they are grateful for the support and that "music can't deceive people".

Netizens immediately slammed the post, writing, "Music can't deceive people, but the programme team can."

Meanwhile, others demanded that the show apologise to Chante Moore and Faouzia, after the show "robbed" the two foreign singers of first place after both showed consistent performances throughout the competition.

It is noted that Na Ying's victory at this year's competition was widely criticised, with many claiming that the singer had not been consistent in her performance compared to the two other performers.
