Singapore Urban Sports & Fitness Festival to debut in Aug

Are you a fan of urban sports such as parkour and skateboarding? Check out the inaugural Singapore Urban Sports & Fitness Festival recently announced by Sport Singapore that will be held from 23 Aug to 1 Sep at various locations across the island.

The first-of-its-kind event will convene more than 10 partners. The festival will present diverse activities, such as parkour, street dancing, fitness racing, and an obstacle laser run.

Obstacle Laser Run (24 Aug, KA13 Obstacle Academy)

Get ready for an exhilarating experience with the Singapore Urban Sports & Fitness Festival, featuring the first high-intensity obstacle laser run in the country!

Athletes of all ages and experiences put their endurance and strength to the test in a challenging sequence of running, shooting, and surmounting obstacles.

Participants can sign up for a range of categories and age groups. Adults aged 22 to 39 for the (300m Run + 5 hits) category pay a fee of S$60. Register here

DanceXhibit (1 Sep, Singapore EXPO)

Get in on the action and see world-class street dancers take to the stage at DanceXhibit.

Also, register for a dance workshop on 1 Sep by South Korean choreographer Bada Lee.

If you wish to perform alongside Bada on 1 Sep, audition for a spot on 26 Aug. From 27 to 30 Aug, selected contestants will undergo training for the big show day on 1 Sep.

Operation Broken Wing (24 Aug, venue to be confirmed)

Like the idea of exercising and uplifting others at the same time? Check out Operation Broken Wing, a charity workout event at the Singapore Urban Sports & Fitness Festival.

The event‘s 2 categories are Fight for Hope and Lift Off. Fight for Hope is a time-based, 18-minute workout session. Participants rotate between stations (toes-to-bar, burpees, goblet squats, box jumps). Each repetition is converted into monetary donations.

Lift Off, held in partnership with the Singapore Weightlifting Federation, is a timed weightlifting challenge. Each team of 2-3 persons of the same gender takes turns lifting.

The goal is to attain the heaviest ‘Clean’ (a lifting movement free from irregularities) within 15 minutes. The total score is the sum of the heaviest weight lifted by each team member.

Registration opens on 6 Jun. All participants can redeem a goodie bag worth up to S$150.
