New Singapore film starring HK actress Venus Wong in 2016
Come second quarter of 2016, a new Singapore movie starring Chew Chor Meng, Chen Xiuhuan, Wang Weiliang (Ah Boys To Men) and Hong Kong actress Venus Wong will hit theatres.
Wang plays the lead in Lucky Boy, a film about a boy who is constantly surrounded by misfortune and is always one step behind others. He has a crush on Venus Wong’s character and has several could-have-been encounters with her, but he doesn’t get the girl.

At the lensing ceremony of Lucky Boy earlier this month, the media was introduced to its cast, including Chew Chor Meng (the father), Chen Xiuhuan (the mother), Wang Weiliang (the protagonist), Venus Wong (primary school mate and love interest), Jeremy Chan (sidekick #1), Danny Yeo (emcee), Roz Pho (the sister), Terence Then (sidekick #2), Priscilla Lim (sister’s friend).
All eyes were on the lovely Venus Wong, 23, who effortlessly oozed girl-next-door appeal in a white peplum top and blue jeans. She last appeared in King of Mahjong, the Singaporean–Malaysian Lunar New Year comedy, and a little bird told us that her work attitude and performance impressed the bosses so much, she’s been offered a chance to work with Clover Films again on Lucky Boy. Wang Weiliang has openly said that the opportunity to work together with this hottie is the luckiest thing that has happened to him yet.

He might want to curb the enthusiasm in real life, though. Wong is famously taken by none other than Derek Tsang, son of HK comedy kingpin Eric Tsang, and the couple have been going out for more than a year now. But when asked whether her boyfriend would be visiting her during her stint in Singapore, Wong demurred.

Another pairing that we’re looking forward to seeing is Chew Chor Meng and Chen Xiuhuan, who were easily one of the most compatible on-screen TV couples back in the 1990s – they co-starred in Witty Advisor and Heavenly Beings.
