I first encountered Maya Chia six years ago upon researching clean beauty brands. “Clean” beauty, of course, is a rather nebulous term; that said, I can attest that Maya Chia’s products meet even the staunchest of benchmarks among plant-based skincare proponents.

The Maya Chia Advanced Response Complex is a rich anti-aging cream formulated for the face and neck, where it smooths, firms, and brightens skin. Ideal for all skin types, including dry, acne-prone, and, particularly, mature skin types, it’s gentle despite its potent active ingredients, all of which are plant-derived.
Most notable among them, and unique to this particular formula, is a specific plant-based growth factor. Whereas growth factors — highly effective anti-agers that’ve stirred quite the buzz as of late — are typically derived from human stem cells, plant-based growth factors, as found in this cream, are not. Nevertheless, these alternative growth factors have proven efficacious in delivering similar skin-rejuvenating results.
Additional ingredients found in this cream include a roster of highly effective anti-agers, mainly skin-firming peptides and glow-inducing vitamins. Chebula — found in similarly effective, plant-based elixirs including a face oil Eva Mendez uses — also stars in Maya Chia’s formula. A lesser-known yet highly effective antiager, it provides ample antioxidant protection, which, in turn, preserves skin’s youthful look. Additionally, chebula brightens and hydrates more deeply than many ingredients, per scientific research.
Anecdotal evidence from shoppers is equally as strong as the science behind the cream’s ingredients. One shopper over 45 years old swears they’ve seen “a huge change” in both hydration and wrinkle prominence after only a few days of using the cream. According to another reviewer over 55, they’ve seen “a noticeable difference in [their] neck and chin area” in a mere month, dubbing this cream “miraculous” as a result.
