Shonda Rhimes Has Eight New Shows in Development at Netflix

Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes made a major move to Netflix last year, and she is starting her new role at the streaming service with aplomb.

In a new press release, it's been revealed that Rhimes already has eight new Shondaland projects in development at Netflix. It's okay if you need a second to process the fact that one of television's most prolific showrunners is making a plethora of new content for your eyes and ears, which is sure to give you all the feels.

Rhimes revealed in the new press release, "I wanted the new Shondaland to be a place where we expand the types of stories we tell, where my fellow talented creatives could thrive and make their best work and where we as a team come to the office each day filled with excitement."

As for the new and exciting content that Rhimes would be bringing to Netflix in the not-too-distant future, Cindy Holland, the Vice President of Original Content at Netflix said, "Infused with Shonda’s sensibility, the Shondaland slate is shaping up to be something truly special that we know will delight our members around the world."

Untitled Shonda Rhimes Project

Rhimes is executive producing a series based on the article How Anna Delvey Tricked New York’s Party People.

Untitled Bridgerton Project

Based on Julia Quinn's novels, which are set in Regency England, the romance follows the lives of the Bridgerton family in London's high society.

The Warmth of Other Suns

Based on the book by Isabel Wilkerson, the show will be set between 1916 and 1970, when African-Americans fled the Jim Crow South in search of a better life.

Pico & Sepulveda

As the press release reveals: "Set in the 1840s against the surreal and sensual backdrop of the then-Mexican state of California, the series tracks the end of an idyllic era there as American forces threaten brutality and war at the border to claim this breathtaking land for its own."

Reset: My Fight for Inclusion and Lasting Change

Based upon Ellen Pao’s memoir, including the Silicon Valley lawsuit which sought to destroy the boys’ club, and pre-empted the Time’s Up movement.

The Residence

The Residence: Inside the Private World of the White House by Kate Andersen Brower tracks White House residence staffers, and their real life relationships with First Families.

Sunshine Scouts

This "apocalyptic disaster" follows a gang of "teenage girls at sleepaway camp who must then summon their moxie and survival skills to weather the fallout and ensure all that remains of humanity abides by the Sunshine Scout Law."

Hot Chocolate Nutcracker

A documentary about Debbie Allen Dance Academy’s award-winning reimagining of the classic ballet, The Nutcracker.
