Shen Mengyao teases music comeback with poetic announcement
2 Dec - Chinese singer Shen Mengyao recently announced that she is set to make her music comeback after more than a year since her departure from SNH48.
The singer shared the news on Weibo on 30 November, saying that she has been using her time after leaving the group to heal her body through traveling, reading, learning a foreign language and many more, and that she had since started practicing dance and train her vocals again, trying to enrich herself.
She continued, "I can't remember which midnight it was, but the inspiration in my mind jumped, and I began to want to pick up a pen to write down my own feelings. At first, it was just some chaotic and long-winded writing, with no order, and I don't know if anyone else can understand the meaning except myself. But as I wrote, I suddenly began to think of you, about how I want to see you, want to show you my work, and want to see the tacit understanding between us. Then let's meet. When we meet, flowers and spring will become each other's meaning of existence, and no matter how deep the night is, it cannot stop the dawn."
"Let me, Shen Mengyao, sing to you in person. Are you ready? Yes, sir!" she added.
Shen's studio also confirmed the planned return, sharing on Weibo a photo of the singer "running" from the camera, and the words "Coming soon" written on the top left.
"People are eyeing her covetously, treating her as prey, and pushing and shoving each other at all costs. But she always manages to get away, becoming the synonym of strength and agility without any danger. If you meet her on a rainy day, you can try to invite her to hide from the rain together - because that is the best time to capture her," the caption read.
Shen, who was the captain of SNH48's Team HII announced her departure and termination of contract back in June last year after being diagnosed with moderate depression and bipolar disorder.
