"Shaun The Sheep Movie" is baa-ck with a sequel

26 Oct - The mischievous sheep is back! Following the financially-successful big screen debut of "Shaun The Sheep Movie" in 2015, Aardman Animations and StudioCanal have announced that a sequel is in the works.

The sequel will once again be directed by Richard Starzak, who previously co-directed with Mark Burton in the first movie.

"Shaun's move to the big screen proved such a success with audiences around the world that he and the flock are very excited to be embarking on another big screen adventure," said David Sproxton, the co-founder and executive chairman at Aardman Animations, in a statement.

He added that Shaun and his gang will go to an "even greater heights of lunacy" in the second instalment.

The upcoming sequel will simply be known as "Shaun the Sheep Movie 2".

Pre-production for the sequel is expected to take place in January 2017.

The first "Shaun the Sheep Movie" made USD106 million at the global box office on a USD25 million budget.

The British stop-motion animated movie earned an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Feature. It also garnered nominations in BAFTA Awards and the 73rd Golden Globe Awards, and won Best Animated Film in the Toronto Film Critics Association Awards.
