Sharon Kwok cleans up Cheung Chau after typhoon

18 Oct – Never one to sit idly, former actress and environmental activist Sharon Kwok recently got involved in a volunteer programme to help clean up the Cheung Chau island, which suffered major damages following Typhoon Mangkhut.

As reported on Mingpao, Sharon, who spoke to the media about the programme, shared that citizens should not wait for help from the government to clean up the mess, but instead be a part of the rebuild.

"After the typhoon, I saw there were a lot of damages caused by fallen branches. We have gathered more than 200 volunteers as well as Cheung Chau residents to carry out the task together," she said.

After three hours of work, the team was able to get rid of 14 tons of garbage and fallen trees.

On the other hand, Sharon, who is close friends with radio personality Elaine Ng, was asked about the latter's daughter Etta, who recently started her own photography studio in Canada.

She responded, "I have not paid much attention to news about her. But I saw her photo on social media and she looked so thin. It's a little sad."

"Everyone has a different path. I don't know her situation. Young people have their own mind," she added.
