Sharktastic "48 Meters Down" gets release date

28 Oct – It wasn't long ago that a sequel for the sleeper-hit "47 Meters Down" was announced, and we now have a release date to go with it.
Alongside news of comedian Byron Allen's Entertainment Studios nabbing the global distribution of the upcoming "48 Meters Down", Deadline also reveals that the sequel will be out in North America on 28 June 2019.
"We are very excited to bring the "47 Meters Down" filmmaking team back together again. The sequel "48 Meters Down" is well-positioned to be a big summer event movie," Allen said.
Back with its original crew, the shark thriller will have director Johannes Roberts at helm with a script from him and his "47 Meters Down" collaborator Ernest Riera. Its producers' seats will be filled by The Fyzz Facility's James Harris, Mark Lane, Wayne Marc Godfrey, and Robert Jones, with Altitude Film Sales on board as executive producers.
With a budget of USD5.5 million, "47 Meters Down", which starred Mandy Moore and Claire Holt, rose to success after grossing over USD44.3 million in the States and USD54.8 million worldwide.
Taking place in Brazil, the upcoming "48 Meters Down" will follow five young girls with different backgrounds and from different countries as they explore the hidden underwater ruin of Recife that is inhabited by the deadliest shark species in the ocean.
With the release date and crew confirmed, fans now just have to wait for when "48 Meters Down" reveal its cast members.
