All Singapore residents will get to enter Sentosa for free via the Sentosa Express and Sentosa Gateway from 4–10 September, as part of the resort island’s 45th anniversary celebrations.

From 1-17 September, the island’s Siloso Beach will be home to Southeast Asia’s biggest sand festival, Sandsational Fun at Sentosa.

Lynette Ang, Chief Marketing Officer at Sentosa Development Corporation, said, “Capitalising on Sentosa’s unique assets of sun, sea and sand, the sand festival is a befitting way to celebrate the island’s 45th anniversary. We are delighted to keep our gates open for all locals to come celebrate with us.”

Visitors entering via the Sentosa Boardwalk can continue to enjoy free entry until 31 December 2017. The three-week festival will be anchored by Sentosa Sandsation 2017, which features more than 30 intricate sand sculptures reaching some five metres in height.

Sentosa Sandsation is open from 10am to 9pm daily, and admission is free. This huge sand art exhibition spread over 2,400 square metres has three zones, each with a different experience.

Zone 1 will have 15 sculptures with quirky takes on various aspects of Singapore everyday life, with names such as “So Jialat!”, “Blur like Sotong, Gabra like Zebra”, “Jiak Zua” and “So Wayang”.

Zone 2 will display works competing in the Sentosa International Sand Sculpting Championship, where 14 world-renowned sand masters from 13 countries will showcase their works on the theme “Imagination”.

Zone 3 is dedicated to interactive sand art pieces by Singapore’s own JOOheng Tan, an internationally-acclaimed sand artist whose works have been showcased in over 70 cities in more than 20 countries. The sculptures in this zone will be changed every week, so repeat visitors will have a different experience each time.

Besides the sand art exhibition, visitors will get to enjoy special deals including 50 per cent off a ride on the Segway miniPro from Beach Station to the event site at Siloso Beach, and 20 per cent off the unlimited Cable Car Sky Pass (50 per cent off for local residents).

The iconic light and music show, Merlion Magic Lights, will also feature a new neon theme starting 1 September. This show runs until 29 October, starting at 7.45pm daily with 30-minute show intervals until 9.15pm. More information about Sandsational Fun at Sentosa 2017 can be found here.
