Selena Lee opens up about autoimmune disease

4 Apr – Selena Lee recently opened up about her health status and revealed that she has been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease.

The former TVB actress, who will not be participating in the promotions for her new drama, "Barrack O'Karma 1968", recently shared about her condition on social media while getting her IV treatment, saying that it began with an eye problem in September last year.

Stating that she took a break from work due to the said issue and underwent an operation following a suggestion from a doctor, Selena said that the problem persisted post-surgery, and that she began seeing many doctors to determine the condition since then.

She received an answer after seeing an ophthalmologist who determined the diagnosis after a series of tests that she has an autoimmune disease.

"How complicated is this disease? It's similar to Jada Pinkett Smith. It's just that her disease caused her to lose her hair, while mine causes my eye problem," she said, referring to the Hollywood actress' alopecia.

Selena also admitted that the problem has made it difficult for her to work and frustrated her very much.

Nevertheless, the actress revealed that she is currently receiving the relevant treatment and can feel that her condition has improved. She also hopes to make a full recovery.

However, Selena admitted that the treatment has also made her immunity greatly reduced, and that there is a high chance for her to fall severely ill if she contracts COVID-19.
