3. Pinkfish Live Featuring Tyga

After being shunned by multiple international artists, Tyga will be gracing our country this August 2023. This will be the “Rise of the Last King” rapper’s first performance in Malaysia. After Pinkfish made its announcement, Phase 1 and VVIP tickets were sold out within minutes.

4. Shutterbugs, get ready for the 2023 Kuala Lumpur Photography Festival

As the only festival of its kind, The Kuala Lumpur Photography Festival (KLPF) is Malaysia’s premier event for the photography industry. It serves as a platform for photographers and industry players to exchange art and technology.

This event caters to the entire imaging industry, from individual photographers to equipment manufacturers, services, awards organisations, and art collectors. This exhibition is open to all interested photographers (in Malaysia and around the world). While the final submission date for photographs was on 30 June 2023, you can still check out the event to get inspired for your work. Admission is free!

5. “Lose yourself” at this Tribute to Radiohead Event

After a 21-year wait, Radiohead’s “True Love Waits” was showcased as part of YSDAF 2023’s pre-festival highlight. This tribute honours the band’s extraordinary legacy, featuring songs spanning 3 decades, led by talented directors, musicians, and choreographers, offering a unique and immersive multi-sensory experience. 

This captivating production is led by directors and music directors, Ian Chow (recipient of the Best Musical Direction at the BOH Cameronian Arts Awards) and Mak Chi Hoe, alongside co-director and choreographer, Kenny Shim. The performance features the mesmerising vocals of The Young KL Singers, a 30-strong ensemble known for its award-winning group performances. 

The Kenny Shim Dance Collective’s expressive movements, along with the musical talents of cellist Eugene Chong, electric guitarist Daniel Lee, and loop programmer Ian Francis Khoo, promise a multi-sensorial feast for the audience.

6. Nerd up at the Star Education Fair 2023

7. Get your yelling voices ready for the Merdeka Day Countdown at KLCC

Well, if there’s any day to be patriotic, it’s on 30 August as you join the Merdeka Day countdown at KLCC. During your visit, you’ll have the opportunity to witness a vibrant showcase of the musical fountain and enjoy performances by various artists

Additionally, the beautifully-illuminated Petronas Twin Towers will serve as a stunning backdrop to enhance your experience.

While we’re still waiting for the artist lineup for performances at this magnificent event, one thing’s for sure. The fireworks display that starts around 11.58 pm is definitely not to be missed.

8. Witness Malaysia coming together for the Merdeka Day parade

If you don’t think you’ve hit your patriotism quota enough, check out the iconic Merdeka Day parade on 31 August. The parade typically begins with the raising of the Malaysian flag, known as the Jalur Gemilang, followed by the singing of the national anthem, “Negaraku.”

The parade features a colourful display of cultural performances, including traditional dances, music, and various art forms that represent the country’s rich cultural diversity. Participants from different states and regions of Malaysia come together to showcase their unique heritage and traditions. 

If the drive to Dataran Merdeka is too far for you, fret not, as the Merdeka Day parade is held in almost every state in Malaysia!

9. Witness “The Most Beautiful Thing” with Bruno Major

As part of his upcoming tour, the “Easily” singer will be stopping by Malaysia this August. Fans have described Bruno Major’s concerts as extraordinary, showcasing remarkable talent that even surpassed his studio recordings. Throughout the show, he would skilfully engage the audience, sharing personal anecdotes between songs.

10. Celebrate Malibu KL Nights with Lany

Ah, Lany loves Malaysia and we love Lany! After their concert in November 2022, the pop-rock band will be returning to Malaysia in August. While their concert last year was held in Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil, this year, they’re opting for a more intimate location at Zepp.
