"Saw 8" has a not-so-puzzling new title

Tobin Bell returns as the serial killer, Jigsaw.

23 Jun – We 'saw' this coming – the eighth instalment of the "Saw" franchise has been christened with a new title.

The official Twitter account of "Saw" recently shared an image of the movie's new logo, bearing the word "Jigsaw", which, of course, is now the new name of the upcoming movie.

Along with it was also the release date 27 October 2017.

So expect to see "Jigsaw", previously known as "Saw: Legacy", over on this side of the world on the 28 of October or so.

The movie's new moniker is no puzzle to "Saw" fans, who would know that it refers to the character John Kramer, otherwise known as The Jigsaw Killer or plain ol' Jigsaw, who has appeared in all previous instalments of the popular horror franchise.

This Halloween is about to get a bit more awe-"Saw"me.

Tobin Bell will be returning to don the killer's trademark black and red robes. Apart from Bell, the eighth movie's cast includes Mandela Van Peebles, Laura Vandervoort, Brittany Allen, Callum Keith Rennie and Matt Passmore.

The movie is helmed by Aussie directors, identical twin brothers Michael and Peter Spierig.

The world was first introduced to the franchise back in 2004, with the release of the James Wan-directed "Saw". Its success spawned six follow-ups, so horror movie fans were treated to a "Saw" sequel every year since then up until 2010.

James Wan has of course gone on to direct more successful horror franchises such as "The Conjuring" and "Insidious".

The story of "Saw" is finally continuing again this Halloween season, it is said to pick up after the death of the Jigsaw killer during the investigation of a new series of murders, which fits his method of killing.
