Saturday Nightmare: Netflix Website Down in US, Over a Dozen Other Countries

UPDATE: The U.S. Netflix website appeared to be back up and running by 8:30 p.m. PT

Web customers for streaming service Netflix were greeted with technical difficulties on Saturday night when trying to login to the service — breaking the hearts of “Stranger Things” fans and tired parents worldwide.

While Apple TV customers in the U.S. saw no immediate disruptions, Netflix users slinging their web players to TV or simply using their laptops could not access accounts. Same for territories in Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Switzerland and New Zealand, per Twitter.

Additional outages were soon reported in the United Kingdom, Buenos Aires, Argentina, Brazil, Switzerland, New Caledonia, Nicaragua, Panama City and Norway, per Down Detector

On the active login page, users were warned the service was “having technical difficulties and are actively working on a fix.” On Twitter, the Netflix help desk acknowledged, “we are aware that some customers are seeing errors when visiting Netflix’s website and we are working to solve this as quickly as possible.”

A Netflix spokesperson did not immediately return TheWrap’s request for comment.
