Sarah Paulson is still in a group chat with the 'Ocean's 8' cast and they all want a sequel
Glass star Sarah Paulson says the star-studded cast of 2018’s Ocean’s 8 remain in touch through a group chat, and they all hope to make Ocean’s 9 one day.
Oh, to be a fly on the wall in that conversation. We bet Blanchett has a mean GIF game.
Paulson starred alongside Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Helena Bonham-Carter, Rihanna, Mindy Kaling, and Awkwafina in Gary Ross’ heist caper, and she says they still exchange messages on a regular basis.
“I would love to be reunited with all those women,” Paulson, who plays Dr. Ellie Staple in Glass, tells Yahoo Movies UK.
“We have still have our exciting text chain going, and we still talk, and all that’s wonderful. But it would be great to have another opportunity to bring it to the screen. And to learn from what we did, and how we could do things even better. That would be great, I would love it.”
Ocean’s 8 took £230 million at the global box office last year, against an estimated £54 million budget. It was a decent-sized hit, but it was the lowest-grossing Ocean film behind the first three starring George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and Matt Damon so a sequel remains uncertain.
Another of Paulson’s films seems to be performing better, with her Netflix film Bird Box – starring Ocean’s 8 alum Sandra Bullock – is being touted as one of the streaming site’s biggest home grown hits.
Netflix claims that the high-concept thriller has been viewed over 80m times by its subscribers since it was launched before Christmas.
Paulson says she was surprised by the success of Bird Box, but admits she’s surprised when anything she does gains traction with fans.
“It’s always surprising when anything you do is watched by anyone, I think,” Paulson humbly confesses.
“There’s a part of me that’s like ‘I’m making this thing, but nobody’s going to see it’. It’s the only way you can manage making it.”
