The filming for the second series of And Just Like That is now well underway, and pictures have started coming in from the New York set – including new shots of Sarah Jessica Parker rewearing Carrie Bradshaw's famous wedding dress.

The actress was seen on the steps of her iconic Greenwich apartment wearing the Vivienne Westwood bridal gown from the first Sex and the City film.

The whole Sex and the City franchise left an indelible mark on modern popular culture – and our wardrobes.

Fans will remember Bradshaw's plans to marry her complicated love Mr Big at the New York Public Library – but the groom got cold feet and left her humiliated at the alter, wearing the now-iconic wedding dress. She then had to navigate the heartbreak of rejection, with help from her three best girlfriends Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte.

Her wedding dress has been referenced ever since, with the design being instantly recognisable as that of British designer Vivienne Westwood, thanks to its structured corset and billowing fabric.

The new spin-off series from the world of Sex and the City had everyone talking last year, as we welcomed back Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda Hobbs (Cynthia Nixon) and Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) and followed them as they navigate life in their 50s.

We watched as three of the four original characters from the show (minus Samantha Jones played by Kim Catrall) dealt with death, grief, sexuality and relationships later in life, and of course, wore some show-stopping fashion while doing so.

Fans enjoyed spotting recognisable pieces from the original series and films in the first season, including Bradshaw's style signatures from the show – like her Manolo Blahnik heels and Fendi Baguette bag.

AJLT costume designers Molly Rogers and Danny Santiago said last year that Bradshaw would be rewearing items from her famous closet as a reflection of the times and our renewed focus on sustainability in the fashion industry – something that was much less of a consideration when the original show aired in the '90s and '00s.

"Carrie is one of those people who does like to go on adventure or mine for something she hasn’t worn in a while and rewear," notes Rogers. "If you’re at all versed at what’s going on in the world, you want to give back in some way.

"Even the characters on the show are in this state of mind. We try to reuse the pieces from SJ’s archive in important moments where they meant something, because we wanted to honour them."

The question that remains to be answer is why Bradshaw is re-wearing the famous bridal gown. Is she walking down the aisle once more? Nothing is confirmed at the moment, but we're looking forward to finding out.
