Samsung Galaxy Unfold 2021: New foldable phones, earbuds

SINGAPORE – To no one's surprise, The Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event yesterday showcased the newest foldable phones from Samsung - the Galaxy Z Flip3 5G and Galaxy Z Fold3. But along with this, Samsung also introduced new smartwatches - The Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch4 Classic, new wireless earbuds, the Galaxy Buds2.
Galaxy Z Flip3 5G
The Z Flip3 5G follows the design elements of its predecessor, the Z Flip (by the way, there’s no Z Flip 2). In unfolded mode, the Z Flip3 5G sports a crisp 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED screen with a tall 22:9 aspect ratio, and it's said to be smoother with a max of 120hz screen refresh rate. Closing the clamshell smartphone, the Cover Screen is now four times larger than the previous model, measuring 1.9-inches diagonally. This cover screen is big enough now to be used as a proper viewfinder and can even support widgets like weather, alarms, media and volume controls, messages, as well as Samsung pay.
The Z Flip3 5G is also tougher and more durable with the use of a Gorilla Glass Victus back and a strong aluminium frame. The phone’s hinge was also put through a strenuous folding test and was verified by Bureau Veritas to withstand up to 200,000 folds. The Z Flip3 5G is also one of the only water-resistant foldable smartphones with an IPX8 rating. The Z Flip3 5G can take a dive of 1.5 metres of water for up to 30 minutes.
The Z Flip3 5G’s dual cameras include a 12MP Wide and 12MP Ultrawide sensor. It also includes a 10MP selfie camera. Powering the smartphone is a 3300mAh battery.
The Galaxy Z Flip3 5G retails at S$1,398 for the 128GB version and comes in four colours - Phantom Black, Lavender, Green and Cream. Galaxy Z Fold3 5G
The Z Fold3 5G improves upon its predecessor with a tougher shell, larger and immersive main screen, waterproofing and S Pen support.
Built with a combination of Gorilla Glass Victus and Armor Aluminum, the Z Fold3 5G is 10 per cent stronger and four times more scratch-resistant than the previous model. The Z Fold 3 5G also sports a durable hinge rated to withstand up to 200,000 fold. Similar to the Z Flip3 5G, the Z Fold3 is also waterproof with an IPX8 rating. The protective film of the main screen is also improved to be 80 per cent more durable than last year’s model.
The Cover Screen of the Galaxy ZFold3 5G is a large 6.2” Dynamic AMOLED Display with a 10MP front camera for your selfie needs. Unfolding the smartphone is a large 7.6” Main screen with a 2208x1768 pixel resolution that’s 29 per cent brighter. To maintain an immersive experience, the main screen includes a hidden under-display selfie camera with a 4MP sensor. No punch hole or notch is interrupting the main screen. Both screens support up to 120Hz refresh keeping the experience fluid. In addition, the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G also supports the S Pen (sold separately), effectively replacing the popular Galaxy Note line. Be sure only to use S Pens designed for the Z Fold3.
Under the hood of the Galaxy Z Fold3, 5G is the latest 5nm processor, supported by 12GB of RAM and is powered by a 4,400mAh battery. The main camera of the Z Fold3 5G includes a 12MP Wide, 12MP Ultrawide and 12MP Telephoto lens.

Availability in Singapore and Samsung’s Trade-in Program
Pre-orders are available today for the Galaxy Z Fold3 5G, Galaxy Z Flip3 5G, Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic, Galaxy Buds2 at Samsung Online Store, and Samsung Official Store in Lazada and Shopee.
It will be available in Singapore starting 10 September 2021, at local telecommunication operators (M1, Singtel and StarHub), Samsung Online Store, Samsung Experience Stores, Samsung Official Store in Lazada and Shopee and major consumer electronics and IT stores.

Galaxy Watch4 and Watch4 Classic
The Galaxy Watch4 and Watch4 Classic are the next iteration of the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active and Watch 3 series, respectively. The Galaxy Watch4 touts a minimal design, while the Galaxy Watch4 Classic retains the signature rotating bezel controls of the Galaxy watch series. The Watch4 comes in 40mm and 44mm, while the Watch4 classic comes in 42mm and 46mm.
Improvements for both Tizen-powered smartwatches include slimmer bodies with a brighter and sharper high-resolution screen, faster chipsets, and an optimised software experience with the new Wear OS 3 - a built-in collaboration with Google which enhances support for Google apps and services, including Google Maps.
The Watch4 and Watch4 Classic include the new Samsung BioActive Sensor consisting of all previous sensors that enable heart rate, ECG, and blood oxygen. In addition, sleep tracking is also enhanced, with the watch able to keep track of oxygen levels and snoring while sleeping. The newest feature of the Samsung BioActive Sensor is the tracking of BioElectrical Impedance that allows measurement of body composition, fat and muscle tissue and water percentage.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch4 40mm price retails at S$398 for the Bluetooth version and S$498 for the Wifi+LTE version. The Watch4 44mm is priced at S$448 for the Bluetooth version and S$548 for the Wifi+LTE version.
The Galaxy Watch4 Classic 42mm is priced at S$548 for the Bluetooth version and S$698 for the Wifi+LTE version. The Watch4 Classic 46mm is priced at S$598 for the Bluetooth version and S$748 for the Wifi+LTE version.

Galaxy Buds2
The Galaxy Buds2 are smaller and lighter than previous models and now includes active noise cancelling that allows for ambience modes. In addition, the separated woofer and tweeter speakers are said to have better sound quality than previous modes. These buds claim a battery life of up to 7.5 hours, but the case allows usage of up to 20 hours before the next charge. Designed to work seamlessly with the Samsung ecosystem, the Galaxy Buds2 enables auto-switching between Samsung smartphones, smartwatches, tablets or even PC.
Priced at S$248 and with four colours options - Olive, Lavender, Graphite and White, the Galaxy Buds2 will be available for pre-order starting today at Samsung Online Store and Samsung Official Store in Lazada and Shopee.
