Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, Galaxy S24+ & Galaxy S24 released – save up to $730 with launch deals
Samsung is going All In with AI. That was the takeaway I got last week at the sneak preview of 2024’s Samsung Galaxy S24 lineup that includes the Galaxy S24 Ultra, Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24. And it was all confirmed this morning at Galaxy Unpacked 2024.
Sure, we have Artificial Intelligence all around us but Samsung’s integrated AI goes further, does it better and gets there faster with the 2024 Galaxy S24 series.
Samsung Galaxy S24 breakout features
It’s safe to expect groundbreaking camera advances from the Samsung Galaxy flagship every year. As expected, Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra’s Nightography does not disappoint. But this year, it comes with a previously unseen feature, Nightography Zoom.
This amazing feature allows you to capture insane detail in low-light conditions even after zooming in. Near darkness and a faraway subject – that just about describes every concert. If you’re attending live events this year, this is the phone you want to have in your pocket.
All that visual magic comes courtesy of the S24 Ultra’s 200MP Wide Camera, 50MP Telephoto Camera with 5x Optical Zoom, 12MP Ultra-Wide Camera and 10MP Telephoto Camera.
Most stunning for me, though, was how the S24’s AI fills in and edits images to almost-Photoshop standard with just point-and-press. It will auto-detect people or objects in an image with a tap, and then let you move, rotate and resize them.
Hate how straightening tilted images crops a bit of all 4 edges? Well, not anymore! The Galaxy S24’s AI will fill in the edges so you get a perfect image without losing a pixel.
And that’s just the start.
Make a circle around an object in a picture and Circle to Search will show you all the places you can buy it in the same shade and design. Husbands, watch your wallets. Strong, independent women, watch your budgets.
That circling trick works with locations, too. Say you come across a picture of a mesmerising travel destination but don’t know where it is. Your Galaxy S24 will not only identify the place but can even create a multi-day itinerary for you on the spot. I foresee my travel-mad Editor-in-Queen Pavin going even more nuts with her travel plans this year.
Travellers will also love the Live Translate feature. Built into the phone, it provides real-time 2-way voice and translation transcript. You can now have a flowing conversation with people who speak 13 different languages with the app translating virtually instantaneously.
There’s also Interpreter, which instantly translates live conversations on a split-screen view so people standing opposite each other can read a text transcription of what the other person has said. Best of all, it even works without data or Wi-Fi.
If you’re a gamer, you would have been astounded when last year’s S23 series brought ray tracing simulations to rival a desktop GPU. The S24 series only makes mobile gaming even more lifelike for titles such as Diablo Immortal, NightCrow and Racing Master. The animated scenes we were shown were mind-blowing.
What better way to enjoy that than on the S24 Ultra’s 6.8-inch QHD+ screen. The S24+ sports a 6.7-inch QHD+ screen while the S24 has a 6.2-inch FHD+ one. All three share a Dynamic AMOLED 2X Display with 120Hz refresh rate.
