Sammi Cheng thankful to win awards for "We Grew Up Like This"
3 Jan – Sammi Cheng recently expressed her elation over winning the Ultimate Song at the CRHK Ultimate Song Chart Awards and the Metro Radio Hit Awards' Hit Airplay Index Song for her single, "We Grew Up Like This".
The pop diva shared two Instagram posts showing off her accolades, and revealed in one post that it was the first time in her life that her song has won the Ultimate Song award.
"I have not participated in awards for many years, and [this song] has achieved the impossible. I feel very happy and full of gratitude," she said.
Sammi also thanked all the DJs who played the song since its release, saying that she was able to win the said award based on the playback rate.
"More importantly, I would like to thank everybody who loves this song deeply. From the first moment it was launched, you sang it enthusiastically, and made it popular immediately. I sincerely thank you for your help!" she added.
In another post, Sammi thanked all the fans and expressed hope that everybody would pay attention not only to the lyrics, but also the arrangement of the song.
"No matter how thankful I am, I can never express my inner gratitude to the fans. Thank you for your support and love that give me strength to continue work hard," she added.
Sammi released the song in June last year, two months after news of husband Andy Hui's extramarital affair with Jacqueline Wong made headlines.
