Sammi Cheng is still over the moon over HKFA win

19 Apr - Sammi Cheng recently admitted that her excitement over winning Best Actress at the recent Hong Kong Film Awards has yet to die down one day after the awards ceremony.

The actress, who appeared at the celebration banquet alongside Best Actor winner Sean Lau, shared that the main reason that she was so happy was because it had not been an easy road for her when it comes to acting.

"Winning an award is a personal honour to me. I just want to say to those who ever dream of something to persevere and not give up easily, because they will never know when the wonderful thing will come," she said.

Sammi also admitted that making a transition from a comedy actress to drama was very hard as people focused more on her being Sammi Cheng in each and every movie she has made, rather than see her as an ordinary actress.

As to whether she will do comedy again in the future, the actress said that she doesn't mind doing so, and is open to accept new challenges.

"I don't mind doing dramas as well, as long as it has a good script and I have enough rest time. After all, I am old now," she added.

When mentioned that she accepted her Best Actress trophy from her former frequent collaborator Andy Lau, the actress stated that she would not resist working with the Hong Kong superstar again in another movie, as long as the subject matter is suitable.
