Healthy food such as salads and soups are some of the most-ordered dishes on foodpanda, according to a report by the popular food delivery company on Wednesday (15 March). The Food Delivery Study 2017 released on Wednesday (15 March) presented findings from data compiled over the past two years.

foodpanda Singapore managing director Aspa Lekka said: “The study shows a huge shift in Singapore’s eating habits. Not only are Singaporeans ordering in more, but they are also opting for healthier dishes – showing that food delivery is no longer the ‘lazy’ fast food option of the past but can now offer a huge selection of dishes that were traditionally only available by going out.”

The food-ordering and delivery marketplace, which was launched in Singapore in 2012, also said that it has seen a whopping 83-per-cent increase in healthy food deliveries in the past year, making up almost a quarter of their total annual orders.

Meanwhile, halal dishes made up a third of all foodpanda’s orders.

“We have also seen an increase in the different types of food ordered – from Halal to European food – reflecting Singapore’s growth as a vibrant and cosmopolitan nation,” Lekka added.

The Germany-based app, which is available in 40 countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia and India, also noted that with such a large food delivery market in Singapore, Singaporeans have contributed to half of all of foodpanda’s orders in Asia despite having one of the smallest populations.
