Sailor Jupiter voice actress Emi Shinohara passed away

12 Sep - Japanese seiyuu (voice actor) Emi Shinohara has recently passed away.

The news was confirmed by her talent agency on 10 September, saying that she passed away on 8 September while receiving treatment after battling a long illness.

"Shinohara Emi (real name Watanabe Emiko), an actor affiliated with our company, passed away on September 8, 2024, at the age of 61, while undergoing medical treatment," the agency posted. "We would like to express our deepest gratitude for the kindness shown to her during her lifetime."

Emi was known for voicing many iconic characters throughout her career, from Makoto Kino/Sailor Jupiter in "Sailor Moon", Kaho Mizuni in "Cardcaptor Sakura", and Kushina Uzumaki in "Naruto Shippuden".

Her passing came following the death of previous seiyuu legends this year like Atsuko Tanaka ("Ghost in the Shell"), Taiki Matsuno ("Kindaichi"), Noriko Ohara ("Doraemon") and Tarako ("Chibi Maruko").
