Ryan Reynolds Shares A Family Update After Blake Lively Gives Birth To Baby Number 4

Last year Blake Lively announced that she was expecting her fourth child with her husband of 10 years, Ryan Reynolds. We learned of the news when the Gossip Girl alum revealed her bump at the 10th Annual Forbes Power Women's Summit in New York on Thursday, September 15, 2022.

At the time, the 35-year-old posed in a sequinned mini dress from Italian fashion house Valentino, which she teamed with chunky platform heels.

The actor-turned-businesswoman, who spoke to Moira Forbes, president and publisher of ForbesWomen, at the event, about her non-alcoholic mixer brand Betty Buzz, later shared photos from the occasion to her Instagram feed.

It was at this point her fans took to the comments section to congratulate her and her expanding family. 'Gorgeous muma!' wrote one person, while another commented: 'Congratulations MUMA.'

Lively and Reynolds already share three daughters, James, seven, Inez, six, and Betty, three, and the 46-year-old Deadpool actor told Today he hopes their fourth child was also a girl. 'I know girls,' he said. 'So I'm kind of hoping for that.'

Following the news that Blake Lively has reportedly given birth to her fourth child with Ryan Reynolds, Reynolds appeared on CNBC's Power Lunch to talk about the Super Bowl's ads – and also revealed some sweet details about his new life as a father of four.

The actor appeared on the show virtually, joking that his home has become a 'zoo' and said 'To be honest, I'll probably spend the rest of my life in here,' referring to the kitchen he appeared in.

While he didn't give much away in terms of details of the birth, or the sex or name of the newborn, the 46-year-old actor did say he and Lively were 'very excited' about the family's latest addition. 'Look, we wouldn't do this four times if we didn't love it,' he said. 'Everybody's doing great. Everybody's actually doing fantastic.'

Of expanding their brood, Reynolds also joked: 'If we haven't figured it out by now, I think we'd be in deep, deep trouble.'

Reynolds sweetly shared that when it comes to supporting Lively during her fourth pregnancy, the whole family rallies together.

During an interview with E! News at the 36th Annual American Cinematheque Awards on November 17, Reynolds said: 'It's not just me. It's our kids, too.'

Discussing how he and his daughters have been making life easier for Lively, Reynolds added: 'We all rally around her and help her where we can and do romantic things for her.

'And, you know, we take care of the mumma.'

After Reynolds confirmed that he and Lively are expecting their fourth child, the actor was asked by E! News whether this time around will be 'easier'.

During an appearance on Today, Reynolds shared if he and his wife know the sex of baby number four, and explained that they are sticking to their longstanding tradition of not finding out until the baby has arrived.

He told Today's Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb: 'I don’t know. We never find out til (the baby is born).'

The actor also admitted that he would be pleased if the couple had another daughter, saying: 'I know girls so I’m sort of kind of hoping that, but I’m ready for whatever happens.'

He then explained why he isn't desperate to have a son.

'(I come from) all brothers, which is why I speak from experience. I love my well-being and my home,' he joked. 'I was the youngest of four and we were just arsonists and firemen.'

After Savannah said: 'Now you’re the ultimate girl dad,' he replied: 'Yes.'

What has Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds have previously said about parenthood?

While the couple protect the privacy of their daughters, this hasn't stopped them opening up about parenting and family life.

In June 2022, Reynolds sat down for a discussion called 'Creativity at the Pace of Culture' at Cannes, and joked about having three 'wild' daughters.

Later, in February 2022, she joked about sneaking out of the house to attend New York Fashion Week, saying: 'I could put my kids to bed and then secretly sneak out and go have a whole alternative life'.
