Ryan Reynolds' most recent starring role in a Netflix movie was in 2019's "6 Underground".
26 Aug – It's no secret that Ryan Reynolds' wallet is lined with money from his Netflix deals, that's how he ends up as the second highest-paid actor of 2020 after all (just one spot behind his "Red Notice" co-star, Dwayne Johnson). Now that wallet's about to get bulkier.
Netflix has recently taken on Reynolds' upcoming project, a comedy film that goes by the title "Upstate".
Deadline broke the news, revealing that the new movie will mark a reunion between the actor and John August, who directed his 2007 sci-fi thriller "The Nines".
Both Reynolds and August will be co-writing the script, though no details regarding the plot have been revealed at the moment. They will also serve as executive producers, with Reynolds doing so under his Maximum Effort banner.
The last Netflix movie that Reynolds starred in was last year's "6 Underground", directed by Michael Bay. He has another Netflix title coming up, the aforementioned "Red Notice", which will see him starring alongside Johnson and Gal Gadot.
He also has other non-Netflix projects lined up. This year, he will be seen leading "Free Guy" as, well, a guy named Guy. He will also be heard voicing Guy (this one's a different guy) in animated film "The Croods 2". Next year, he will be seen reuniting with Samuel L. Jackson and Salma Hayek in "The Hitman's Bodyguard" sequel, "The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard".
