It’s not uncommon to see big-name K-pop boy bands such as Big Bang and GOT7 at the top of the iTunes K-Pop chart, but the newest chart-topping band is definitely unexpected. That’s because the band, Boys Generally Asian (BGA), is a parody K-pop group created by popular YouTuber Ryan Higa.

The group’s newest song “Who’s It Gonna Be” was released on iTunes on 24 March and climbed to the top of the K-pop charts almost immediately, beating out bands like Girl’s Day, Highlight and GOT7.

The song was also released on Ryan Higa’s YouTube channel, and has already amassed more than 5.5 million views within three days. In the song, the group’s five members poke fun of the way many K-Pop bands operate, from selecting their fandom name to providing “fan service” to please the audience.

The fandom name that BGA decided on?

“K-poopers”, based on their first song “Dong Saya Dae” released a year ago, which roughly translates to “I Need to Poop”. “Dong Saya Dae” has also managed to climb the iTunes K-Pop chart a year since its release, and currently ranks number nine on the chart.
