Ruffa Gutierrez won't say no to daughters joining pageants

26 Dec – Ruffa Gutierrez recently admitted that she has no issue if her daughters Lorin and Venice plan to compete in beauty pageants in the future.

As reported on PEP, the actress, who spoke to the media at the launch of a beauty clinic recently, shared that a lot of people have been saying that her eldest - 16-year-old Lorin - could follow her example, but that the teenager is currently too young to get involved.

"You have to be 18 to join Miss Universe. And times have changed. The beauty queens are much older now. Back when I was involved, most of them were 17- and 18-year-olds. I was only 15 when Ms. Stella approached me," she said, referring to Stella Marquez de Araneta, chairperson of Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc.

Gutierrez also stated that beauty pageants prefer older and more mature candidates nowadays.

"It's a trend that they are all in their 20s and late 20s," she said.

Nonetheless, the actress admitted that Lorin has already gone to several workshops at beauty camp Aces and Queens, but that that would be it for now; adding that her daughter is more interested in acting at the moment.
