Ruby Lin and Wallace Huo wins case against Song Zude
9 Jan – Celebrity couple Wallace Huo and Ruby Lin have recently won their case against rumour monger Song Zude, known to many as "The King of Hype Media".
As reported on Epoch Times, the case was originally filed by the couple in 2017, after Song went on Weibo claiming that the couple's marriage is null and void since they didn't register for their marriage certificate.
He even dared Wallace and Ruby to sue him if his statement was wrong.
Song had since retracted his statement and his related posts, claiming that he made a mistake of thinking that Taiwan has similar procedures as mainland China when it comes to registering one's marriage. However, the Beijing Haidian court decided to take up the case since Song's post was published without further review, and had been seen and shared by thousands of people.
On 4 January, Beijing Xingquan firm released the result of the case on Weibo, revealing that Wallace and Ruby have succeeded in their lawsuit against Song.
Song has been ordered to pay RMB 100,000 to each celebrity, totaling in RMB 200,000 in damages. He will also have to publicly apologise to Ruby and Wallace on his social media platform.
