RSV 'horrible because you can't do anything for them'

Country singer Lisa McHugh's six-month old daughter Hallie spent a "horrendous" 10 days in the South West Acute Hospital (SWAH) after contracting respiratory syncytial virus (RSV).

RSV is a common but highly infectious respiratory virus that affects the breathing system, particularly in young children and older adults.

According to the Public Health Agency, there have been more than a thousand cases of RSV in infants under the age of one since 30 September 2024.

Around two thirds (669) of these infants have been hospitalised.

Gilead Sciences and the U.S. government have settled a billion-dollar patent dispute over Gilead's HIV prevention drugs Truvada and Descovy, according to a Wednesday filing in Delaware federal court.
