Rosamund Kwan revisits her popular role, Thirteenth Aunt
30 Aug - Fans and "Up Idol" members alike couldn't help but express awe at Rosamund Kwan, who recently donned her "Once Upon a Time in China" costume again to film a mock version of the hit martial arts movie for the reality show.
As reported on Mingpao, in the latest episode of the third season of "Up Idol", the members went to Foshan, where they took a short lesson in martial arts and proceeded to shoot their own version of the Wong Fei Hung franchise, directed by famed filmmaker and action choreographer, Yuen Wooping.
While stars like Jiang Xin and Ariel Lin were cast as Wong Fei Hung and Bucktooth So, Yuen asked Rosamund to reprise her role as Thirteenth Aunt - the love interest of Jet Li's Wong Fei Hung character in the '90s film.
Cast members, including hosts Wu Xiubo and Wang Han, couldn't help but be mesmerised when Rosamund later came out in the Victorian dress synonymous with the British-educated Thirteenth Aunt.
Speaking about the experience, the actress shared that she was moved to tears with the experience.
"I am grateful to the programme for giving me the opportunity to revisit the set of "Once Upon a Time in China". You can say that Thirteenth Aunt is one of the most memorable characters in my film career," she said.
Rosamund stated that the opportunity to wear the same costume and play the role again after 24 years is an incredible experience, especially when coupled with the fact that it was directed by Yuen.
"I have worked with him in a lot of movies. After ten years of retirement, to see him in the studio again, it was a mixed feeling," she said.
The former actress also admitted to being quite nervous about filming again that day, since it has been a long time since she starred in a movie.
"But that day, in that studio, it reminded me of those years, and it was a very familiar feeling," she said.
