The Rock Waxwork Gets Makeover After French Museum Admits Original Was “Whiter Than It Should Have Been”

The Rock’s French waxwork has had a makeover.

Paris’ Grévin Museum has updated the skin color of Dwayne Johnson’s statue after it was mocked online, including by The Rock himself, for being too white.

In an Instagram video, Yves Delhommeau, managing director of Grévin Museum, said the visitor attraction got a “big surprise” when it put Johnson’s under the lights.

“His skin tone seemed too pale, and we suddenly realized we might have got it wrong,” he said. “Painting on wax is very complicated.”

Veronique Berecz, the museum’s head of PR, told Variety that The Rock’s figure was “whiter than it should have been,” but it was the result of an honest mistake.

Delhommeau said that The Rock would stop by at the museum for a drink to celebrate the waxwork. “Long live Dwayne Johnson,” he smiled.

Grévin Museum has immortalized many Hollywood stars as waxworks, including Ryan Gosling and Lady Gaga.
