Robin Padilla denies supporting ABS-CBN shutdown
27 Feb – Robin Padilla recently dismissed the idea that he is opposing the renewal of ABS-CBN franchise.
As reported on Push, the actor, who is known to be a firm supporter of President Rodrigo Duterte's administration, recently clarified his stance when speaking to the media at the hearing held to discuss the issues surrounding the network's franchise renewal.
"I am not against it," said Padilla, as he echoed director Joel Lamangan's statement about the shutdown impacting the Philippine cinema, as the company is one of the largest platforms for filmmakers and actors alike.
"It would be the end of the Philippine cinema. Why would I... no. Not like that," he said.
However, Padilla stated that he is pleased that the network apologised for the previous issue concerning Duterte, who accused the network of intentionally not airing his political ads during the 2016 electoral campaign.
