Richie Jen in tears at concert over Alien Huang's passing

22 Sep – Richie Jen couldn't help but cry as he performed his penultimate song, "I Am A Little Bird" at his recent concert, as he thought about the death of good friend, Alien Huang.

As reported on Mingpao, the singer who launched his 2020 concert at the Taipei International Convention Centre (TICC), apologised to his fans for the tears, saying that he couldn't help feeling emotional about his loss.

"The song really touched me. I am having a complicated feeling today. I just lost my good brother two days ago," he said, before bursting into tears that rendered him speechless.

Further expressing his sadness over Huang's death, Richie stated that the song represented the two of them.

"It's a pity that he has been working hard, but the heavens took him away. He is watching us from the sky, and I will sing this for him. The older you are, the harder it is to control your emotions. I hope everyone is safe. Little devil, I will miss you," he added.

Alien Huang's body was discovered by his father at home in Taipei on 16 September. Medical examiners recently determined the cause of death as ruptured aorta in the heart.

He was 36.
