Rica Peralejo speaks about decision to leave showbiz

13 Apr – Rica Peralejo recently opened up about her decision to leave showbiz, explaining that she was burnt out from being overworked when she was in her 20s.

As reported on Push, the "Kay Tagal Kang Hinintay" star, who sat down for an interview on Toni Gonzaga's YouTube show, "Toni Talks", stated that she opted out after experiencing exhaustion as a result of being overwhelmed with work.

"At 25, I said why is that when I wake up I think of work, and when I'm tired, I just think of work. I didn't have anything else to look forward to in my life," she said.

Peralejo stated that she was so lost that she turned to alcohol, toxic relationship and cigarettes; and was envious seeing how her sister and niece went back to school and doing regular things that other people do.

"I saw the normality of their lives and it seemed fun. So little by little - it was slowly building up - I said that I want a normal life," she admitted.

It was then that she began to focus more on her religion.

"I thought this job, this fame, this popularity, this career will actually be it. It turns out, this is all I need... It's not in material things or positions you can see, or even in ambition."

Rica Peralejo is now married to Pastor Joseph Bonifacio and are parents to two sons, Philip and Manu.
