Retitled Jason Sudeikis-Jessica Biel Comedy ‘The Book Of Love’ To Kick Off Heartland Film Festival

This year’s Heartland Film Festival will open with Bill Purple’s The Book of Love, the Jason Sudeikis/Jessica Biel comedy formerly known as The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea. The film, which also stars Maisie Williams, will be the Indianapolis fest’s opening night film on Thursday, October 20.

The nonprofit arts organization Heartland fest, running October 20-30, kicks off with a red carpet opening night event at the Scottish Rite Cathedral, including appearances by Biel, actor Richard Robichaux and producer Michelle Purple.

“We are thrilled to kick off our silver anniversary with a powerful film like The Book of Love,” said Heartland Film President Craig Prater. “With an all-star cast and inspiring message, Bill Purple’s film will leave a lasting impact on our audiences. We look forward to hosting Jessica, Michelle and Richard in Indianapolis for this fantastic event.”

The film, which played the Tribeca Film Festival under its former title, follows Sudeikis’ Henry and Biel’s Penny, coping with a tragedy, and a young girl (Williams) who is constructing a raft to sail across the Atlantic to find her lost father.

Purple directed the film which he also co-wrote with Robbie Pickering. It was produced by Michelle Purple, Biel, Mike Landry, Carlos Velazquez and Chuck Pacheco, with music composed by Justin Timberlake. It also stars Robichaux, Paul Reiser, Mary Steenburgen, and Orlando Jones. Electric Entertainment will release the film in theaters in early 2017.

At the Heartland fest, musician Jon McLaughlin will headline the opening night after-party at the Scottish Rite Cathedral. The event is presented by the David and Betty Klapper Family Foundation.
