An expensive, time-consuming bathroom renovation isn't practical for most homeowners. Who has the time or the money to completely demolish and rebuild a bathroom? But this project proves that as long as the fixtures and materials are in decent shape, there's no need for a gut job.

Without any intense demolition or remodeling, DIY expert Brittany Bailey completely refreshed this bathroom for a friend for just a few hundred dollars, sharing all the instructions on her blog Pretty Handy Girl. With some TLC, fresh paint, and a variety of new bathroom accessories, she modernized and overhauled the space on a dime.

When Brittany's friend told her she was preparing to refresh her kids' shared bathroom by gutting it, the blogger told her friend it wasn't necessary to go that far. "She was in disbelief when I told her I could renovate that bathroom for a fraction of the cost of a full renovation-and, buyers would hardly be able to tell the difference," she wrote on her blog.

Before, the space was home to outdated wallpaper and finishes, and a dingy color palette, but the shower, tile work, vanity cabinets, and toilet were all in good shape.

After removing the wallpaper and dirty grout, Brittany was able to transform the bathroom into a light and airy space with a more neutral color scheme. Pretty paint on the walls, vanity cabinet, and mirror made all the difference, but the new grouting and inexpensive accessories were nice touches, too.
