A recast Joker might be one of the villains in Matt Reeves' "Batman" trilogy

9 Jun – It's long been rumoured that the Joker will be making an appearance in Matt Reeves' "The Batman" trilogy and a recent update revealed that this might not be so far-fetched.
The director is currently looking for a suitable actor to fill in the Clown Prince of Crime's shoes, according to The Direct's insider Daniel Richtman.
The all-new Joker will reportedly be referenced in next year's "The Batman", but he will only be making his full appearance as one of the multiple villains in the subsequent second and third instalments of the trilogy.
Casting has yet to begun, though fans might not want to pin their hopes on seeing Joaquin Phoenix (2019's "Joker") or Jared Leto (2016's "Suicide Squad") reprising their respective portrayal of the villain, since Reeves is more likely looking at someone new to go up against Robert Pattinson's Batman.
At the moment, the confirmed cast of "The Batman" includes Pattinson as the titular superhero, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.
Since production on the movie was halted since March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, "The Batman" was given a new release date last April and is now slated to open in North American cinemas on 1 October 2021.
