Reba McEntire's favorite heated vest — 'the greatest invention known to man' — is on sale at Amazon

The star said it kept her 'toasty warm' on set.

Do you love to wrap yourself up in a heated blanket and wish you could actually walk out of the house that way? Well, you sort of can. There's a popular heated vest that provides such deliciously toasty warmth on a cold winter's outing that customers are swooning — and the most vocal fan of the Ororo Heated Vest is singing/acting legend Reba McEntire. As if Reba's seal of approval weren't enough, the vest is now $135 (down from $170) at Amazon when you apply the on-page coupon.

Sure, it's insulated with an eco-friendly filling, but the real stars of the show are the carbon fiber heating elements sandwiched inside of its wind- and water-resistant shell. These create four heating zones — in the left and right front areas, the upper back and the collar — that evenly spread warmth throughout the vest.

Why is it a good deal?

The Ororo Heated Vest, which McEntire told New York magazine is a "life-saving" winter essential and "the greatest invention known to man" — quite an endorsement! — is currently down to $135 (from $170) in black, one of the lowest prices we've seen in months. And if you want it in gray or blue, those colors are on sale for just $127 at Walmart.

Why do I need this?

The Ororo Heated Vest has battery-operated heating elements, so you do have to remember to charge the vest via its USB port. That said, it'll stay warm for up to 10 hours on a single charge! "The charge lasts a long time, but I always tell people to buy the extra battery pack as a backup," McEntire said. "There’s nothing worse than being somewhere cold and your battery dies."

Worried about overheating? Don't be. You can customize your warmth level by choosing between three heat settings. And don't sweat washing the Ororo vest, either: it's safe to throw it right in the machine, but you can also hand wash it if you choose. Either way, you can expect years of toasty-warm performance: Its battery can be charged up to 800 times before you'll need to replace it!

What reviewers say:

But don't just take McEntire's word for it. Take it from the more than 7,000 Amazon customers who swear by this piece.

"I love this vest!" gushed one rave reviewer. "Living in Minnesota, we have plenty of cold, and this is amazing. It heats up very quickly. The neck is heated, which makes all the difference to me. ... It is not bulky. I can wear my regular winter coat over it. But to be honest, I rarely do. This beast keeps me so warm. I thought I would be able to feel the hard coils like you would with an electric blanket, but you don’t. It’s amazing, everyone needs one."

"I've been researching heated vests for a year and finally went with this one based on reviews," shared another happy shopper. "I love it! I have Raynaud's [Syndrome] and the warmth of the vest helps my circulation. Battery power lasts for hours and [the] vest is very comfortable."

"I bought this one for my mom and she loves it!" exclaimed a final fan. "Most of our family has these and we love them. My only complaint is that the battery takes forever to charge."

If you want this baby in gray, you can get it on sale at Walmart. Feel free to wear it underneath a jacket for extra warmth, but it's powerful enough to be worn on its own, too.

This jacket is made for days when you need more than just a vest to face the weather. Hello, spring skiing! Bonus: It comes with a detachable hood.

"This is a great jacket," wrote one of nearly 6,000 five-star fans. "We have had subzero temps here for the last several days; I have shoveled the walk and drive (a 2-hour process) and stayed warm. Even in those indoor settings where it is supposed to be warm, turning it on to a low heat makes all the difference in my comfort level. If you are notoriously cold-blooded, live in colder climates, or if you need or like to be outside when cold, this is a must."

We're not all vest people. If you prefer sleeves, this heated fleece will keep you cozy, too. It's just right for spring when the weather is unpredictable.

"The girlfriend works at the hospital and she's always cold in her unit," shared a generous boyfriend. "This helps a lot to keep her toasty. Good product!"

"The gloves themselves are great," shared a happy shopper. "When you add the batteries and turn them on, they are glorious. We shoveled 3 driveways in 9-degree weather with a below-zero windchill and our hands were toasty warm. The first pair had 1 defective glove. One of the batteries would not charge. I contacted the seller and had a replacement in just a couple of days. They were very easy to work with."
