Raymond Wong talks challenges filming "Forensic Heroes IV"

5 Mar – Memorising a difficult script filled with medical jargon is already hard enough for an actor. Imagine having to do it again after your co-star was replaced by another.

That's what Raymond Wong had to deal with when filming "Forensic Heroes IV", where he plays the role of forensic laboratory supervisor and senior chemist Dr Ko On, after co-star Jacqueline Wong - who had the most scenes with him - had to be removed and replaced by Roxanne Tong due to a previous relationship scandal.

In an interview with Mingpao, the actor stated that re-shooting the drama was one of the hardest things he had to do.

"Jacqueline and I filmed this drama for half a year and we were able to establish a lot during that period. But then everything had to be redone again with Roxanne. How was I to do it? So I asked Roxanne to do our homework, do more rehearsals together and try to build rapport with each other in a limited time frame," he said.

Raymond added that the actress did very well indeed in the 80 percent of the scenes that she shot with him.

"I would give her 100 points. She took over the role in just over a month, and that was a big challenge. Mui Siu Ching's script is not easy to digest and it took a lot of effort to do it, so everybody really helped her," he said.

In addition to the reshoot, Raymond admitted that he was already pressured to do well since the drama is the fourth in an already successful franchise.

"It's hard to do something fresh for a franchise, not to mention that the audience will definitely make comparisons," he added.

However, Raymond can now breathe a sigh of relief, after it was revealed that the series broke the premiere ratings record held by "Triumph in the Skies II" when the first episode aired last month.
