Ratings: The ‘FBI’ Franchise Locks Down Primetime Tuesday Win for CBS

Thanks to its “FBI” franchise, CBS has once again locked down a Tuesday night win in both the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and total average viewership, according to Nielsen’s live plus same-day figures. The network pulled back up in ratings after last week’s slight dip, to 0.5 in the demo, and saw similar total average viewership with 6.2 million.

Kicking off the night at 8 p.m., CBS’ flagship “FBI” drew in 0.53 in ratings and 7.1 million total average viewers — the highest of the night across all networks and primetime hours. Next up, “FBI: International” received 0.48 in the demo and 6.1 million total viewers on average. Closing out primetime for the network was “FBI: Most Wanted,” which saw a full tenth of a point jump from last week (0.38 to 0.48 in the key demo), as well as 5.3 million total viewers on average.

Here’s how primetime went down across the major broadcasters:

As mentioned, CBS clinched victory in both ratings and total average viewership on Tuesday. Second in command ratings-wise was ABC, which earned 0.47 in the demo.

ABC aired an installment of “Bachelor in Paradise,” which hit at 0.55 in the key demo and garnered 2.3 million total average viewers. At 10 p.m., the network aired an episode of the Niecy Nash-starring “The Rookie Feds,” which drew 0.29 in the demo and 2 million viewers on average.

NBC was third in ratings, with 0.4 in the key demographic. The network was also second in terms of total average viewership, with 4 million. At 8 p.m., NBC aired the third part of its Battle Rounds of “The Voice,” which received 0.6 in the demo (the highest of the night across networks and times), as well as 6.1 million in total average viewership. An hour later, “La Brea” aired to 0.32 in ratings and 3.4 million total average viewers. Closing out the night was an installment of “New Amsterdam,” which hit at 0.28 in ratings and 2.6 million total viewers on average.

Fourth in ratings was Fox, which earned 0.26 in the demo and 2.1 million total average viewers across primetime. At 8 p.m., an airing of “The Resident” got 0.31 in ratings and drew 2.6 million total viewers on average. An hour later, an episode of “Monarch” earned 0.26 in ratings and received a total average viewership of 1.6 million. Fox came just behind ABC in terms of total average viewership to occupy the fourth spot and sat exactly 50,000 viewers shy of the latter’s 2.17 million.

The CW was fifth in ratings, with 0.05 in the demo, as well as fifth in total average viewership, with 362,000 (a 200,000 decline from last week). With the second episode of “The Winchesters,” the prequel series to “Supernatural,” The CW hit at 0.07 compared to last week’s 0.12. The series also dropped in total average viewership, garnering 464,000 to last week’s 781,000. The network closed out the night with a 9 p.m. airing of “Professionals,” which drew 0.04 in the key demo and 261,000 average viewers.

Neither The CW nor Fox air primetime programming at 10.

Among the Spanish-language networks, Univision was first with a 0.4 in the demo and 1.4 million total average viewers across primetime. “La Herencia, Un Legado de Amor” received a 0.5 demo rating and 1.6 million total viewers at 8 p.m. “Los Ricos También Lloran,” which aired from 9 to 10, got a 0.4 in the demo and 1.4 million total viewers. The 10 p.m. series premiere of “La Madrastra,” a reboot of the 2005 Mexican telenovela of the same name, finished off the night with 0.3 in ratings and 1.7 million total viewers on average.

Telemundo came in second, averaging a 0.3 demo rating and 988,000 total viewers. “Éxatlon,” which aired from 7 to 9 p.m., managed a 0.2 demo rating and 857,000 total viewers. At 9 p.m. was the third season premiere of “La Reina del Sur,” which got 0.4 in the demo and 1.2 million total average viewers. “Infiel: Historia de Un Engaño” closed out the night with a 0.2 demo rating and 814,000 total viewers from 10 to 11 p.m.
