Ratings: CBS’ ‘Blue Bloods’ Season 13 Premiere Nets 6.4 Million Viewers

With the Season 13 return of its procedural “Blue Bloods,” CBS was first in total viewers, averaging 6.4 million, according to official live plus same-day Nielsen data. But Fox came in first among the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic, wrestling its way to a 0.54 for “Friday Night Smackdown.”

Overall, CBS saw success with the return of its police dramas, including “S.W.A.T.,” which netted nearly 4.8 million average viewers and a 0.38 rating. The network also debuted its new firefighting series “Fire Country,” which drew the second largest audience of the night, with 5.9 million viewers on average and 0.4 rating in the key demo.

Fox once again took the ratings crown on Friday with the same average as last week. The long-running WWE competition show averaged a similar number of viewers as the week prior, roughly 2.2 million.

Here’s how primetime went down across the major broadcasters:

Fox was first in ratings with an average 0.54 rating in the key demo, while CBS was first in total viewers with an average of 5.7 million.

CBS was second in ratings with an average 0.4 in the demo, while ABC was second in total viewers with an average of 3 million, as well as third in ratings with a 0.37 demo rating.

ABC kicked off the night at 8 p.m. with an episode of “Shark Tank,” garnering a 0.47 demo rating and 3.4 million total viewers. The network followed up that hour with an installment of “20/20,” which aired from 9 to 11 p.m. and drew a 0.32 rating in the key demo and 2.8 million total viewers.

Fox came in third in total viewers with an average of 2.2 million. NBC was fourth in both ratings and total average viewers, scoring a 0.26 rating and nearly 2.1 million viewers.

NBC’s primetime programming consisted of the “Capital One College Bowl” at 8 p.m., which scored a 0.21 rating demo and 1.7 million viewers. From 9 to 11 p.m., NBC’s episode of “Dateline” netted 0.28 in ratings and 2.3 million total viewers.

The CW was fifth in ratings, receiving a 0.11 demo rating and scoring roughly half a million in total viewership (519,000 to be exact). The network aired a special re-airing of iHeart Radio’s Music Festival at 8 p.m.

Neither The CW nor Fox air primetime programming at 10.

Among the Spanish-language networks, Univision was first with a 0.4 in the demo and 1.3 million total viewers across primetime. “La Herencia, Un Legado de Amor” received a 0.4 demo rating and 1.4 million total viewers at 8 p.m. “Los ricos también lloran,” which aired from 9 to 11, got a 0.4 in the demo and 1.3 million total viewers.

Telemundo came in second, averaging a 0.2 demo rating and 770,000 total viewers. “Éxatlon,” which aired from 7 to 9 p.m., managed a 0.2 demo rating and 785,000 total viewers. “Fuego del Destino” aired to a 0.2 demo rating and 745,000 average total viewers from 9 to 10 p.m. “Infiel: Historia de un Engaño” closed out the night with a 0.1 demo rating and 764,000 total viewers from 10 to 11 p.m.
