John Rambo from the Rambo franchise and John McClane from the Die Hard series, the heroes of two of the most iconic action movies of the '80s, will be joining the fight in Call of Duty on Friday (28 May) in the game's latest and most action-packed community event yet.
The limited-time Call of Duty ’80s Action Heroes crossover event allows players to take on the role of either John Rambo or John McClane, who will be available as new Operators in Operator bundles that also include themed weaponry and accessories from their respective movies. The event also includes an '80s themed multiplayer mode, weapons, cosmetics, and more.
If you are not familiar with who John Rambo and John McClane are, you can rest assured that they fit right in the battlefields of Call of Duty.
The Rambo franchise follows John Rambo, a veteran of the United States Army Special Forces who uses his military skills to fight corrupt police officers, violent warlords, and drug cartels. Meanwhile, the original Die Hard follows New York City police detective John McClane as he fights against terrorists who have taken over a Los Angeles skyscraper.
“Call of Duty, Die Hard, and Rambo coming together in this fresh new way is an amazing combination of franchises, tailor-made for our fans. This limited time crossover celebration allows players to star as some of entertainment’s most iconic action heroes within Call of Duty,” Johanna Faries, General Manager for Call of Duty, said in a press release.
“In addition to adding Rambo and John McClane, we’re giving our players new weapons, gear, missions, modes, and more exciting themed experiences. We’re incredibly excited to offer thrilling content and experiences for Warzone, Black Ops Cold War and Call of Duty: Mobile.”
The Call of Duty ’80s Action Heroes crossover event will run until 18 June and is available for PC and consoles on Call of Duty: Black Ops - Cold War and Call of Duty: Warzone, as well as on mobile on Call of Duty Mobile.
