Rabiya Mateo: PH needs more than just resiliency

18 Nov – Just like Nadine Lustre and several other celebrities before her, Miss Universe-PH Rabiya Mateo is expressing her frustration for the overuse of the term "Filipino resiliency".

As reported on Rappler, in an interview on "Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho" recently, Mateo stated that the Philippines relied too much on the resiliency of the people that they sometimes failed to look at the problem and find the solution.

"We just tell other people all we need to do is have a positive mindset and we're going to overcome this. But where are the tangible programmes to help the people being affected by such situations?" she asked.

Mateo, who understood what it was like experiencing devastations of a typhoon following Super Typhoon Yolanda in 2013, stressed that the country needs more tangible and visible solutions rather than just relying on resiliency.

"We won't learn, our community won't do better if we just rely on resiliency," she added.
