Quentin Tarantino says bye to his R-rated "Star Trek" movie?

Looks like Quentin Taratino is washing his hands of that R-rated "Star Trek"
movie he's been planning.

17 Dec – Just two years ago, Quentin Tarantino revealed that he would be helming an R-rated version of a "Star Trek" big screen adaptation. Fast forward to today, that plan might be no more.

The director recently told the Chicago-based Consequence of Sound, as quoted by ScreenCrush, that he was "steering away" from "Star Trek".

"But I haven't had an official conversation with those guys yet. In a strange way, it seems like this movie ["Once Upon A Time in Hollywood"] would be my last. So, I've kind of taken the pressure off myself to make that last big voilà kind of statement," he said.

He added that it's because "Once Upon A Time in Hollywood" was such an epic movie, it worked so well as the "climax" to his career, that now he wants to just make something small for his final movie.

This news broke just a day after The Hollywood Reporter brought word that ViacomCBS CEO Bob Bakish confirmed there were two new "Star Trek" movies in the making. Presumably, the movies are the Noah Hawley-directed "Star Trek 4" and Tarantino's R-rated one.

If Tarantino is serious about leaving his "Star Trek" project though, the sci-fi franchise will have only one upcoming movie in the making then.
