Queenzy Cheng passed away at 37
29 Nov - Malaysian singer Queenzy Cheng has recently passed away.
The news was shared by her rep via Queenzy's social media account, saying that the singer breathed her last on 28 November.
"Queenzy captured the hearts of many with her soulful voice, particularly through her enchanting Chinese New Year songs that resonated with joy and tradition. Her musical legacy will forever echo in our hearts, serving as a comforting reminder of the joy she brought to countless lives. As we mourn the loss of a talented artist, let us also celebrate the vibrant spirit and cultural richness she shared through her music and acting," the statement added.
"In this difficult time, our thoughts and prayers are with Queenzy's family, friends, and all those touched by her beautiful melodies. May she rest in eternal peace," they added.
Meanwhile, it was reported that her body will be taken back to her hometown in Kangar, Perlis, with the funeral to be scheduled on 2 December.
According to singer-actor Chai Zi, who co-founded Squad Sekawan with Queenzy and several others, revealed that she was filming for the group's social media channel on 28 November when she collapsed.
Chai Zi stated that the singer was ready to film the second episode at 10.30am, before saying she was feeling dizzy and nauseous. Queenzy was conscious when she gave them the passcode for her mobile phone so they could contact her boyfriend while they called the ambulance, but that she lost consciousness soon after. She was declared dead as the ambulance arrived.
Chai Zi stated that it was 30 to 40 minutes between the time Queenzy said she was dizzy to her being declared dead.
She was 37.
